Fun with F/+: 4-year program rankings

Chris Graythen

It's still early in the 2013 season, but let's take a look at my spin on multi-year program rankings. Using the F/+ rankings for each team over the past four seasons, I weigh each team's ranking in each year as follows:

  • 2013: 40%
  • 2012: 30%
  • 2011: 20%
  • 2010: 10%
The way I see it, recruits (and fans, for that matter) care much more about what's happening NOW rather than what happened in the ancient past -- you know, five years ago. This weighting system and F/+ may not be perfect, but this is just for fun, right? (Based on the comments section in my last post, I'm not so sure anymore).

Okay, before I hit you with the list, let's look at a few interesting things.

Here's the full list. A few things jumped out at me:
  • Texas A&M at 10 and Texas at 34. That's all you need to know about Mack Brown's employment situation.
  • Obviously, Bama at #1, then all SEC teams from 7-11. But the Pac 12 and Big 12 get two teams in the top 10.
  • Baylor has had a remarkable rise - better than USC, Nebraska, and Boise. Who would've guessed that four years ago?
