And I am through with the first of six BCS conferences on the 2012 preview list: the Big East.
| Team | 2012 Preview | Stat Profile |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | X | X |
| Connecticut Huskies | X | X |
| Louisville Cardinals | X | X |
| Pittsburgh Panthers | X | X |
| Rutgers Scarlet Knights | X | X |
| South Florida Bulls | X | X |
| Syracuse Orange | X | X |
| Temple Owls | X | X |
Say what you will about the conference -- most of it is deserved -- but it does typically produce some pretty fascinating conference title races. This year shouldn't be any different; I see the conference breaking into, basically, three tiers.
Tier I: Louisville, Rutgers, South Florida
Tier II: Cincinnati, Pittsburgh
Tier III: Connecticut, Syracuse, Temple
Any of the III's could end up in Tier II, but I struggle to figure out any of the II's who could end up in Tier I. And for that matter, I struggle to figure out which of the I's I think will actually take home the conference title. The numbers are going to like South Florida a decent amount, but I've been leaning toward Rutgers because of that defense.
